Artist BioJohn DeCastro, is a Pinoy-American visual artist and instructor based in LA, CA. His work incorporates techniques like painting, embroidery, paper-making, and recycled collaged paper. Manila Paper and construction paper are some of the formats he’ll use to tell stories of his upbringing as a queer Filipino-American. His works are deemed playful or pastel, with subject matters on otherness, abstraction, contrast, and dismantling toxic masculinity or machismo culture. John continually collaborates with various artists to tell the stories of Queer POC, looking to represent more alternative stories and experiences through his art.

John opens access to his work through public art in the Los Angeles County region. Community centers such as Center for the Arts Eagle Rock, and Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), and The Sunday Jump: Open Mic Series have featured and honored his work. He's the first graduating student to exhibit a public series showcase featuring him and his colleagues work, at Glendale Community College, CA.
